Definitions of natural flavourings may vary slightly across different regulatory jurisdictions. Generally, natural flavour or flavouring refers to substances obtained from natural sources such as fruits, plants, herbs, and vegetables. These sources undergo processes to extract and concentrate flavour compounds, which are then utilised in manufacturing to impart desired sensory characteristics.
Although both natural and artificial flavours may be processed in similar facilities, natural flavours are sourced from materials of natural origin (such as vanilla beans, plants, or fruits). In contrast, artificial flavours are synthesized through chemical processes to mimic the sensory properties of natural flavour compounds.
Regulatory requirements for natural flavours vary between countries; however, regardless of jurisdiction, all natural flavours used within our Vendor Assurance Program are held to consistent standards of quality, legality, and safety equivalent to those applied to other food ingredients. To ensure compliance and maintain quality control, Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) and Certificates of Analysis (CoA) are provided for all natural flavour ingredients.
Depending on their source, manufacturing location, and application, some natural flavours may contain allergenic substances. However, any allergens present must be declared on the finished product label in accordance with regulatory requirements. Natural flavours incorporated in Nuzest products do not contain any of the major declarable allergens.
